SOMSA Participates in World Blood Donor Day Awareness and Donation Campaign
The Somali Medical Students Association (SOMSA) participated in activities marking World Blood Donor Day 2026, contributing to a coordinated national blood donation and awareness campaign supporting the Somali National Blood Bank.
Mogadishu, Somalia – 14 June 2026, In commemoration of World Blood Donor Day, observed on 14 June 2026, the Somali Medical Students Association (SOMSA) actively participated in a blood donation and awareness campaign aimed at supporting the Somali National Blood Bank. The campaign was jointly organized by the Faculty of Medicine at the Somali National University, the Medical Students Association of Somali National University, the National Blood Bank of Somalia, and SOMSA. The initiative focused on promoting voluntary blood donation, raising public awareness on the importance of safe blood supply, and strengthening national efforts to ensure availability of blood for patients in need. SOMSA acknowledges and commends all students, healthcare workers, and participants who contributed to this humanitarian campaign, demonstrating responsibility, compassion, and commitment to community service. Blood donation remains a critical life-saving act that directly supports emergency care and improves patient survival outcomes.
